Marilyn Chambers Dead at 56
Adult film actress Marilyn Chambers, the onetime Ivory Snow model who gained greater fame as the star of the X-rated “Behind the Green Door,” was found dead Sunday by her teenage daughter at her home in Southern California. She was 56. Authorities have not released a cause of death. Suicide would not be a big surprise considering what has happened to many other porn stars.

At 12 billion a year, the revenues of the porn industry in the U.S. are bigger than the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball combined. Worldwide porn sales are reported to be 57 billion. To put this in perspective, Microsoft, who sells the operating system used on most of the computers in the world reported sales of 36.8 billion in 2004. Hollywood currently releases 11,000 adult movies per year more than 20 times the mainstream movie production. Megan Leigh – Age 26
Her body was discovered on June 16, 1990 at her home in Solano, California. She had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. According to former porn performer and message board contributor Brandy Alexandre, an autopsy discovered a lethal dose of Valium in Leigh’s system. Porn historians, including Luke Ford, have said that Leigh had recently entered a lesbian relationship and had moved in with her girlfriend, when her family reportedly denounced her for her decision to enter into a same-sex relationship. Reports claim that she had become despondent by her family’s rejection, and had been abusing drugs before her suicide.

Shauna Grant – Age 20
As a fast-rising adult film personality she was featured in Virginia, Suzie Superstar, and Flesh and Laces 1 & 2, among many others. Her pay rose from $300 a day to nearly $1,500. As Shauna Grant, she made dozens of popular adult movies. On March 23, 1984, Grant committed suicide in Palm Springs by shooting herself with a .22 Long Rifle. Shortly after 7 p.m. she lay down, placed the gun horizontally against her head, and pulled the trigger. The shot passed through her right temple, out the left and into the bedroom wall, according to police reports. The gun was discharged from such close range that the bullet left virtually star-shaped holes. Brain dead, Shauna was rushed to Desert Hospital, where life support systems were disconnected after two days.

Alex Jordan – Age 31
Alex entered the adult business in her mid-20s, an age when most actresses are getting out. She and her husband thought it would be a good way to finance a comfortable middle class future. She won the 1993 Adult AVN Awards for “Best New Starlet”. Jordan’s best friend was her parrot, and when it died, she went crazy. Speaking on the telephone to her husband, she accused him of not caring about her. His crime? Lack of sensitivity to her feelings about her bird’s death. Blaise Pascal was an extremely intelligent physicist and mathematician that lived in the 1600’s. In May of 1654 he had what many people refer to today as a near death experience. His encounter would lead him to write a book that contained a passage, which would eventually be referred to as Pascal’s Wager.

Creationists and Evolutionists have been arguing for centuries over who is right and who is wrong. Their discussions and debates can often get heated and will frequently result in nothing but insults and name-calling. Instead of trying to prove the existence of God to an atheist, agnostic or evolutionist, Pascal went straight to the end result. We know for a fact that everyone is going to die so there can only be two possible outcomes.

If a Creationist is wrong and an Evolutionist is correct then they will both simply die and that is the end of their existence. The Creationist would lose the hope of heaven and immortality. There would be no consequences or punishment for accepting Christ and living a good moral lifestyle.

If a Creationist is correct and an Evolutionist is wrong then there are severe consequences. The Bible is crystal clear on the final destination for non-believers.

AP WELLINGTON, New Zealand – It seemed like an almost literal answer to their prayers. When two New Zealand pilots ran out of fuel in a microlight airplane they offered prayers and were able to make an emergency landing in a field — coming to rest right next to a sign reading, “Jesus is Lord.”

Grant Stubbs and Owen Wilson, both from the town of Blenheim on the country’s South Island, were flying up the sloping valley of Pelorus Sound when the engine spluttered, coughed and died.

“My friend and I are both Christians so our immediate reaction in a life-threatening situation was to ask for God’s help,” Stubbs told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

He said he prayed during the ill-fated flight Sunday that the tiny craft would get over the top of a ridge and that they would find a landing site that was not too steep — or in the nearby sea.

Wilson said that the pair would have been in deep trouble if the fuel had run out five minutes earlier.

“If it had to run out, that was the place to be,” he said. “There was an instantaneous answer to prayer as we crossed the ridge and there was an airfield — I didn’t know it existed till then.”

After Wilson glided the powerless craft to a landing on the grassy strip, the pair noticed they were beside a 20-foot-tall sign that read, “Jesus is Lord — The Bible.”

“When we saw that, we started laughing,” Stubbs said.

One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington , D.C. there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument . On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington , D.C. , are displayed two words:

Laus Deo
No one can see these words.  In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn’t care less.

These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia , capital of the United States of America .  Laus Deo!  Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean?  Very simply, they say ” Praise be to God!”

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States , it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public.  It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo. “Praise be to God!”

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments.  From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l’Enfant ..a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north.  The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask?  Why a cross?  What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution.  So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God!  Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings.  As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message.

On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore;
on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians;
on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God!  Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy “One Nation, Under God.”

Scientists have been observing changes in the direction of earth’s magnetic field which took place recently as well as in the distant past. NASA’s website features a map showing the gradual northward migration of the north magnetic pole in the past century and a half. The sun reverses its magnetic field like clockwork every eleven years at the peak of the sunspot cycle. The next solar flip is due in 2012.

It is not only the direction but also the strength of this magnetic field that is a concern. In the time of dinosaurs, at an estimated 2.5 gauss, it was eighty percent stronger than it is now. This may have been one of the reasons such gigantic life forms thrived. It is now accepted that a catastrophic event ended the reign of giant reptiles.

Does the magnetic field drop to zero gauss? Dire predictions follow upon the heels of this theory. Electronic devices would all be at risk: there may be damage to, or complete loss of, all near-earth-orbiting satellites and possibly the space station itself. Effects on life forms could range from migrating birds losing their sense of direction to immune system decline and even widespread die-off from radiation-induced cancers.

This event could result in the massive destruction of life on earth. The magnetic field of the earth is not an accident of natural science. Its primary task is to protect the earth against cosmic and solar radiation. Without this field, life is practically impossible and in a short time, life on our planet would be extinguished. An all-burning, deadly radioactive radiation would torment the earth’s surface.

VATICAN CITY (AFP) – The Vatican newspaper published Monday good versus evil takes on the Harry Potter books, the fictional boy wizard star of the runaway best-selling books by J.K. Rowling.

The series drew criticism from the future Pope Benedict XVI in 2003 when he voiced fears over “subtle seductions” in the saga that could undermine children’s religious development by blurring the line between good and evil.

Under the headline “The Double Face of Harry Potter,” an expert in English literature, Edoardo Rialti, argues in L’Osservatore Romano that the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was right to worry. In the opposing view, Catholic essayist and writer Paolo Gulisano wrote that “behind the fabulous adventures of the different characters you can see the author’s anthropological vision.”

Rowlings, writing for a “post-modern” and individualistic world, “wants to help the young reader understand that ‘doing good’ is the best thing to do,” Gulisano wrote.

Ratzinger’s fears were contained in a March 2003 letter to German Catholic sociologist Gabriele Kuby, author of the book “Harry Potter – Good or Evil.” She made the letter public in July 2005. “It is good that you shed light and inform us on the Harry Potter matter, for these are subtle seductions that are barely noticeable and precisely because of that deeply affect (children) and corrupt the Christian faith in souls even before it could properly grow and mature,” Cardinal Ratzinger wrote.

He voiced the fear that young minds will “lose the spirit of discernment between good and evil and that they will not have the necessary strength and knowledge to withstand the temptations to evil.”
